Of Cowards, Carbon and Commies

The god awful cap and trade legislation passed the house today because 8 Republicans are either cowards or liars.

This bill is built around the myth that carbon dioxide is bad for the planet and must be restrained by humans, even though appx. 95% of CO2 in the world comes from water vapor and that CO2 only makes up 4% of the atmosphere.

Either way, this bill does nothing to curb carbon emissions, all it does is make carbon a commodity to be traded and regulated. This will cause massive off-shoring of American jobs by companies seeking to avoid the massive penalties for non-compliance or the massive cost of compliance. Obama himself warned us that this plan will also called the price of our utilities to "skyrocket". The job market for all those coal miners, gas technicians, etc. would be decimated if it actually was passed into law.

The promise of new "green" jobs is also a myth, the bill tells that it is. Vast sums of money are being given to inventors to create new green technologies over the next 20-30 years. If the government is trying to bribe inventors into developing technologies, it means we don't have it yet,; therefore no new jobs in that sector.
If you need an example of this failure, just go ask Spain who had the highest commitment to green technology in the world and now have an unemployment rate of about 18%.

Now this bill is being announced as dead in the Senate, which is good but there was a time when this would never have been proposed.

This bill essentially makes anything which uses or produces carbon the jurisdiction of the EPA. This gives them a hand in just about anything they want being that carbon is the building block of all life on this planet.

There are some good developments though.

First, a whole slew of Democrats in moderate/conservative districts just signed their own death warrants politically. The only reason they were in office was because people were mad at Republicans, not because they suddenly became liberals. Good to know you.

Secondly, now we know who needs to be out of the party. If we can't rely on them to vote against this abortion of legislation and capitalism, then they should really not claim to be members of the GOP.

The unfaithful 8 are:

Mary Bono Mack - CA 45
Michael Castle - DE
Mark Steven Kirk - IL 10
Leonard Lance - NJ 7
Frank LoBiondo - NJ 2
Chris Smith - NJ 4
John M. McHugh - NY 23
Dave Reichert - WA 8

All of these guys are either not conservatives, to weak to stand up to Nancy Pelosi or were bribed out of their principles. One thing we do know is that nobody in Congress has actually read the entire bill they just voted on.

Good to know you fellas, now hit the F'n road.
