Have We Learned Kiddies?

It was announced today that the last combat brigade has left Iraq, leaving appx. 56,000 non-combat soldiers behind. This announcement startled me a bit not because the decision is so atrocious but because you don't really hear anything about Iraq in the news anymore as Afghanistan is getting worse and worse by the day.

This is a curious development and devastating to liberals.

Afghanistan was the good war. It was approved by the UN and it became a joint NATO operation. It had all the telltale signs of a liberal wet dream. A community of nations coming together in agreement and harmony to vanquish a common enemy.

Iraq was the savage war of choice, unilaterally spearheaded by cowboys in DC and London and looked down upon by most of the world.

Which one has been going better? If liberal world view ideology was correct, Afghanistan should be a Utopian example of what can be accomplished through a little peace, love and understanding. The only problem is that Afghanistan is sliding back into a hell hole because the liberal world view doesn't exist. The initial part of the war went well because the United States is so good at destroying the enemy. The UN and NATO were more than happy to step aside while we kicked ass and we were happy to do so. However, when the time came for the real work, the political and societal rebuilding combined with security, they pretty much took a pass there too. With the exception of the Brits, who have been solid of course. The rest though didn't want to fight, they didn't want to provide security, they didn't want to pay for anything. They wanted the US to act unilaterally only with there approval and under the umbrella of the idiotic NATO/UN rules of engagement which are designed to lose wars.

There were no such illusions in Iraq. That was the killing war, the Shock and Awe war. Now don't get me wrong, the aftermath of combat operations didn't go well and the insurgency that followed was a horribly bloody affair. The difference was that the Iraq war didn't have to follow the intergovernmental, bureaucratic nonsense that they did in Afghanistan. While the UN and NATO happily sat on their ass and watched Afghanistan crumble, the US/UK coalition in Iraq made the tough choice to increase troop levels and increase violence to end the insurgent threat. No meetings or UN resolutions but more bloodshed. That's what stabilized Iraq.

If Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia, Somalia haven't taught the lesson, let Afghanistan do it. Intergovernmental agencies like the UN and NATO don't exist to get anything done. They exist to give all the nations of the world cover for doing nothing. It's an excuse to let bad things happen while world leaders talk endlessly about international law (which doesn't exist), treaties and the rights of mankind. It reflects most leftist programs on any level as they only give the appearance of compassion without the trouble of actually having to do anything.

I applaud what the coalition has been able to do in Iraq but it troubles me what is going on in Afghanistan. It would be far better to pull out of there now if it's only going to be fought on NATO terms. If the soldiers there aren't allowed to aggressively kill the enemy, they are simply providing life sized target practice for Taliban fighters which is an unacceptable situation to simply allow to exist in a war zone limbo. Let them do what they were trained to do or get the hell out of there and get ready for the next war, which will surely come after this particular display of weakness.

Wow, Just Wow

For many years I've been convinced that the United Nations is only good at two things, hating Jews and spending American money.

Even I was taken aback at the spectacle on Wednesday. That place has officially turned into the Carnival of the Damned. What was the most offensive thing? Hard to say but there are many good choices.

OBAMA'S SPEECH - This narcissistic, condescending diatribe against the American people and their history was frightfully embarrassing and infuriating. Had I not known it was the President speaking I surely would've though that somebody had made the mistake of giving Syria, Somalia, Venezuela or Cuba the floor. Alas no, in one speech Obama managed to - 1. Apologize for the entire American history before he was President; 2. Completely stab the Israelis in the back (go get a hug from the Czechs and Poles) 3. Take credit for non existent legislation and achievements 4. Distort hundreds of years of history and 5. Launch his campaign for EU or UN President.
It was a national disgrace.

OBAMA AND THE UK - Look, I don't like Gordon Brown either but they way Obama treats him and all the Brits is an abomination. The UK and the US have a working relationship that cannot be discarded. When the PM is in New York and wants to meet, you meet. End of story. Obama has already alienated the Israelis, Brits, Germans, Americans and Chinese. As he continues to woo the affection of the worlds worst people, how many allies does he expect to sit around and take his abuse? We are going to be more isolated in the world than we ever were during the Bush years.

GADDAFI - This was equal parts funny and insulting. It was worth having him come here just to listen to him explain how the Jews killed JFK because he wanted to inspect their nukes. You know you're in for some good old fashioned crazy when a leader is introduced as the "king of kings and leader of the revolution." You'd think he'd be a general by now instead of a colonel. Throwing books, hating Jews, living in tents on Trumps lawn. Just awesome.

IRAN - It was nice of the Community of Nations to give Iran a forum to deny the Holocaust again. Claiming it was part of a Zionist trick to get the UN to create Israel was nice, I guess Jews really have been in the movie business forever. It was so bad Israeli PM Netanyahu was forced to scold the General Assembly asking them if they have no shame. Turns out they don't. Kudos to the US, UK, Canada, France, Finland for walking out.

GLOBAL WARMING - Despite having one of the United Nations top climate scientists come to the conclusion that man made global warming doesn't exist they had their propaganda fest anyway. Obama was the chief propagandist but all of it was embarrassing. Anybody who doubts that the global environmental movement is just the new home for old Marxists, socialists, commies, etc. is engaged in willful self denial.

Oh yeah, thanks New York, I'm sure you don't mind footing the bill for all this global community organizing. Just tell Patterson to throw it into the pile of debt he already has. See you next year!

An Unpleasant Commun

Finally, it seems as if Obama's laser beam like focus on failure and ineptitude is finally paying off for the United States.

The reports coming out of the United Nations is that any agreement on a ineffective climate change pact to replace the also ineffective Kyoto Treaty is probably not going to happen.

The reason? The Obama administration is too focused on passing socialist healthcare to pay any real attention to a socialist energy tax and cultural modification that is disguised as climate change.

Praise Jesus! I guess it was only a matter of time before rampant socialist ideology in the Executive would pay off, who knew it would be one radical agenda item blocking the other?

The end result could be a failure on both fronts. The healthcare debacle seems destined to end in failure, or at least failure wrapped as success. However, Obama shows no inclination to simply let it go and move on to other things, like climate fraud.

The Europeans are so pissed that they're claiming that the United States is a bigger obstacle to climate rescue than the Indians or Chinese. Right. 300 million of the cleanest living people in the world are the problem. Just because India and China are in large part filth spewn ghettos with no industry to speak of doesn't mean they're clean. Remember Slumdog Millionaire? Where the little kid jumped in the delta of s***? No why that movie couldn't be made in the US? Because we don't have festering rivers of feces permeating the countryside. Once India and China work out plumbing and ghettos bigger than many US cities, then they can officially be part of the solution. Until then, part of the problem you go.
